Adopt a joint proclamation declaring October 2026 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and October 11, 2026 as Survivors’ Day in Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

To honor domestic violence survivors, raise community awareness about the prevalence of domestic violence, and show support for the individuals and organizations who provide advocacy, services and assistance to victims, Mecklenburg County, in partnership with the City of Charlotte, proclaims October 2026 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and recognizes October 11, 2026 as Domestic Violence Survivors Day. All residents are encouraged to learn about Domestic Violence and the associated resources available in our community.
