BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The subject property owner, FDG Declan Huntersville, LLC, is donating a Permanent Greenway Easement on a portion of Tax Parcel 019-111-60 (+/- 7.555 acres), as required for rezoning purposes, to facilitate the construction of future Cane Creek Greenway in the Town of Huntersville.
The land is located east of the Bryton neighborhood, west of Everette Keith Road, and north of Hambright Road in the Town of Huntersville, on the north side of Mecklenburg County.
The donation by FDG Declan, LLC, will allow the County to construct an expansion of the future greenway in this area and provide access for the residents in the new Bryton-Declan multi-family residential development and nearby neighborhoods, such as the Bryton, and Bryton NVR subdivisions.
The donation is consistent with the goals of the Meck Playbook that calls for the addition of parkland, greenway and open space within the County. It is also consistent with the County’s Environmental Leadership Action Plan.
