BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
This project will implement deep energy retrofit measures at the Judge Clifton E. Johnson Building (700 E. 4th St.), including replacement of old hvac equipment with higher efficiency equipment and retrofitting existing lighting with more efficient LED lighting. These retrofits will greatly improve the energy efficiency of the facility as part of the County’s effort to achieve net zero carbon by 2035.
PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:
This Project was originally advertised on April 4, 2024, in the Charlotte Post, Charlotte Observer, Greater Diversity News, and the North Carolina electronic Vendor Portal. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on April 19, 2024. A bid opening was scheduled for May 7, 2024, but no bids were received.
The Project was re-advertised on May 8, 2024, and a pre-bid meeting was held on May 22, 2024.
Bids were received June 3rd, 2024, with two (2) contractors submitting bids. The lowest responsive and responsible bidder was Miles-McClellan Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of $2,274,000.
