BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
This project is for the installation of solar photovoltaic panels at the Tyvola Senior Center. These photovoltaic panels will generate electricity for the facility, thereby reducing the facility’s carbon footprint. This project is part of the County’s Environmental Leadership Action Plan initiative to achieve net-zero carbon by 2035.
PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:
This Project was originally advertised on October 17, 2024, in the Charlotte Post, Charlotte Observer, Greater Diversity News, and the North Carolina electronic Vendor Portal. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on October 31, 2024. A bid opening was scheduled for November 21, 2024, but no bids were received.
The Project was re-advertised on November 26, 2024. A bid opening was scheduled for December 16, 2024, but again no bids were received.
The Project was re-advertised again on January 8, 2025. A bid opening was scheduled for January 30, 2025, with two (2) contractors submitting bids. The lowest responsive, responsible, bidder was Miles-McClellan Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of $893,535.00, including acceptance of Alternate No. 1 for $4,535.00.
