This is being requested in recognition of Dolly Parton and her enduring commitment to philanthropy and service, most notably through the Dollywood Foundation and the Imagination Library that provides hundreds of millions of free books to children around the world, helping to promote early childhood literacy and educational opportunity
Dolly consistently chose kindness over bitterness and unity over division, showing through her words and actions that people with different backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences can still treat one another with dignity, grace, and respect.
