BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

On April 29, 2024, Three U.S. Marshal task force officers and a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer were killed, and four other officers, three of whom were with CMPD, were hurt during an east Charlotte shootout that stemmed from a fugitive warrant operation. In light of this tragedy, The Board will discuss ways in which they could support local law enforcement in areas of crisis intervention and trauma-informed care for law enforcement and their families in Mecklenburg County.
